Welcome dear reader to The Ghoti Letters blog. The author of this blog was inspired to create and write this blog due to several experiences over the past year plus in what has proven to be a rather mysterious and often perplexing journey in the search for modern love (as Mr. Bowie might so call it) and a deeper understanding by the author with respect to his life and himself.

The Ghoti Letters blog title was inspired by the author’s most recent former romantic obsession. The gentleman with whom your dear author most recently fell truly, madly, deeply (as they say) first contacted the author using the alias fishghoti. The author was immediately intrigued and delighted to discover the double entendre associated with the alias.   The author queried the gentleman who uses this particular email alias as to whether there might be any deeper meaning to choosing such an alias. He claimed there was nothing more to it than the obvious play on words. Well dear reader, the author has come to conclude there may have been a great deal more to choosing such an alias than the user may be aware as the gentleman proved to quite an accomplished player (on many levels)—but more on this later.

This blog will be written in an epistolary style of letters written to several past romantic obsessions as well as boyfriends some of whom are still living and some who remain with the author in spirit. Each of the individuals addressed in these letters has profoundly affected the author in one way or another.  And at times and in many ways long after the physical connection with the individual ceased to exist, this author believes in the theory of quantum entanglement and as thus believes each connection we make with someone (whether it be a brief or a more lasting moment) affects each of each at a very deep and long-lasting level.  The key for each individual on the journey (if so motivated) is to understand the connection, the effects, and its deeper meaning.

And so the birth of The Ghoti Letters a story which shall unfold in an asynchronous manner of letters written concerning current timeline events in the author’s life and letters written in the past (and possibly the future).  It will be a story which weaves together various disparate elements of the author’s life experience—thoughts, feelings, spirituality, and esoterica.
